"The fear of the LORD is the beginning of knowledge: but fools despise wisdom and instruction." (Proverbs 1:7)
Knowledge is the key that unlocks and opens doors. The knowledge of Jesus opens heavens doors to all that call upon His blessed name.
I am so thankful to God for medicine and skilled physicians that help us when we are in trouble.
I am grateful for good shelter from the rain and the cold.
I often think about my school teachers that helped me to learn to read and to write, and to 'cypher'!
Literature is a priceless commodity that pours information into the open and receptive mind.
But, the Bible says that, "The fear of the LORD is the beginning of knowledge:..." (Proverbs 1:7)
With all of our learning, we know nothing that is worth knowing, if we do not know God!
When the scripture says, "The fear of the LORD is the beginning of knowledge:...", it is putting emphasis on just how important it is to know, and revere, God! It is the 'beginning', or paramount!
The word "fear" doesn't mean that we are in the posture of dread, and cower before Him with our hands covering our faces to try to block the blows of His fists. It means that we are in awe of Him, knowing that He is great in His love, and magnanimous toward mankind. It means that we respect Him, and speak reverently when we speak of Him.
A "smart" person does not use His name in vain, nor blaspheme by using His name in cursing! A "smart" person doesn't refer to Him as 'the man upstairs', because He is not a man, and He doesn't live upstairs. A "smart" person is on his knees before Him, and praises Him daily for His blessings!
If you know anything at all, it should be that God is worthy of our respect, and our adoration.
If you don't know that, then you really don't know anything that will get you out of this world alive.
From my heart to your heart.
