"And he arose out of the synagogue, and entered Simon's house. And Simon's wife's mother was taken with a great fever; and they besought him for her." (Luke 4:38)
"PRAY FOR THOSE THAT ARE SICK"
Sickness and disease is very much a part of each our lives. Perhaps you are not feeling well, this morning? Or, perhaps, your heart is burdened for someone that is ill?
There are those times when we wish there was something that we could do to help those that are sick.
1) We may bring them flowers.
2) We may send them a card.
3) We may cook for them, or tidy up there house.
4) We may offer to help with medical bills.
5) We may take them for medical treatments.
6) We may ring them up, and talk to them.
7) We may go for a visit, and may take them out of the house for a drive.
Then, we wish that there was something more we could do to help them.
There is! We can pray for them!
Jesus came to Peter's house, and they found that Peter's mother-in-law was sick, and had a high fever. We don't know what caused it, and it doesn't really matter.
What does matter is this, "...and they besought him for her." I am not sure who the 'they' was. It was probably Peter and his wife. What is important is this, they asked Jesus to help her.
And Jesus did! "And he stood over her, and rebuked the fever; and it left her: and immediately she arose and ministered unto them." (V. 39)
She felt better, and she began 'ministering' to everyone in the house! I bet she made a pan of biscuits! I don't know that for certain, but I am a big fan of homemade biscuits!
While you try to find ways to help those that are sick, don't forget to pray for them. Just ask Jesus to help them. Wouldn't it be wonderful if He did?
Make a list of those who are sick, or may have other problems, and make it a point to include them in your daily prayers. You will being doing them a big favor!
From my heart to your heart.
