"And, behold, men brought in a bed a man which was taken with a palsy: and they sought means to bring him in, and to lay him before him.
And when they could not find by what way they might bring him in because of the multitude, they went upon the housetop, and let him down through the tiling with his couch into the midst before him,
And when he saw their faith, he said unto him, Man, thy sins are forgiven thee." (Luke 5:18-20)
This passage was a part of my A. M. reading assignment. You will find this story in Matthew 9:2-8 and in Mark 2:1-12, as well.
As I read this, I thought about the men that brought the paralyzed man to Jesus.
Were they brothers to this man?
Were they cousins to him?
Maybe they were his uncles?
Were they boyhood friends that played together when they were children?
I don't know. But a few of things are certain about them.
1) They loved this poor fellow!
2) They believed that Jesus could help him!
3) And, they were willing to do what ever it took to get him to Jesus!
Do you know someone who needs Jesus?
Do you love them?
Do you believe that Jesus can help them?
Are you willing to do whatever it takes to get them to Jesus?
Would you stop right now, and lay them before Jesus?
These men carried this man in his bed to a house where Jesus was teaching. They couldn't get in because so many people were standing in the way. So, they tore a hole through a tile roof, and lowered him and his bed down into the room where Jesus was sitting, and teaching. They "...lay him before him." (v. 18)
Wow! When Jesus saw their faith, He forgave the crippled man's sins, and to show of His ability to change people's lives, He healed him, sending him home with his bed upon his own shoulders!
Make every effort to bring the ones you love to Jesus! In prayer, "...lay him before him." Let Jesus see your faith!
From my heart to your heart.
