"But Jesus withdrew himself with his disciples to the sea: and a great multitude from Galilee, followed him, and from Judea,
And from Jerusalem, and from Idumaea, and from beyond Jordan; and they about Tyre and Sidon, a great multitude, when they had heard what great things he did, came unto him. (Mark 3:7-8)
Everyone it seems, was seeking for Jesus! They had come from the north, south, east, and west in search of Him, because they had heard of all the wonderful things He had done for others. He used His powers for good!
I think about how wonderful the Lord is! And I think about how willing He is to bless and help people!
But not everyone loved Jesus, nor understood Him.
1) "And the Pharisees went forth, and straightway took counsel with the Herodians against him, how they might destroy him." (Mark 3:6) (The Pharisees and the Herodians had differences of opinions, but put aside their differences to destroy Jesus.)
2) "And when his friends heard of it, they went out to lay hold on him: for they said, He is beside himself." (Mark 3;21) (Jesus' boyhood friends thought that he had lost His mind, so they scheduled an intervention!
3) "And the scribes which came down from Jerusalem said, He hath Beelzebub, and by the prince of the devils casteth he out devils." (Mark 3:22) (The 'experts' have spoken! The scribes were experts in the scriptures. Yet how blind they were? They called Jesus, Satan. They could not have possibly been more wrong about Jesus!)
4) "There came then his brethren and his mother, and standing without, sent unto him, calling him." (Mark 3:31) (Mary, His mother, had "hidden" things about Jesus in her heart since His conception, but still struggled to understand His reckless abandon, and the challenges that He made to the religious community. And His brothers, we gather from John chapter 7, were much like the brothers of Joseph, the son of Jacob, in the book of Genesis.)
What's the confusion all about? Jesus is the only begotten Son of God. He loved without any limits. He was no respecter of persons. And He helped everyone that had faith in Him.
Jesus is still misunderstood by many people. But here's the thing, "Jesus is the only hope we have!"
I'm not confused about who Jesus is, and I hope that you aren't, either.
Run to Jesus!
From my heart to your heart.
