"And the people, when they knew it, followed him: and he received them, and spake unto them of the kingdom of God, and healed them that had need of healing." (Luke 9:11)
"GOOD THINGS HAPPEN WHEN YOU HANG OUT WITH JESUS"
The Lord has gone to a little town called Bethsaida. It is almost deserted in His day. He went there for a repose, and to rest.
When the people of the area knew where He was, they came to Him. They wanted to hang out with Jesus.
Here's what happened:
1) "...and he received them,..." Those who want to hang with Jesus are never an imposition unto Him! Jesus was glad to see them, even though He was tired, and had gone on retreat to recharge His batteries.
2) "...and he spake unto them of the kingdom of God,..." If you want to know what heaven is like, talk to Jesus, because He has been there. And, if you want to know more about God, His Word, or anything of a spiritual nature, then Jesus is the expert. He enjoys talking about God's kingdom.
3) "...and healed them that had need of healing." Jesus has the power to set what is wrong in our bodies back right again. The healing ministry of Jesus is very evident in the Bible. He had compassion upon those that were sick. Does Jesus heal today? Yes! Does He heal every one that we pray for? No. Why does He not heal every one we pray for? I don't know. But I do know this, "He is right, and I am wrong." We can always trust Jesus to do what is best for those who believe in Him!
4) Jesus fed the multitude that came to Him! (v. 12-17) They had five loaves and two fish. Jesus fed more than 5,000 men with five crackers and two sardines! There will always be enough for those who hang with Jesus! "And they did all eat, and were all filled: and there was taken up of fragments that remained to them twelve baskets." (v. 17)
Good things happen when you hang out with Jesus!
