"And he took them up in his arms, and put his hands upon them, and blessed them." (Mark 10:16)
Jesus has made the journey from the regions about the Sea of Galilee, and has come to Judea. He is heading unto Jerusalem, where he will be arrested, and put to death. He knows all of this fully, yet He is undeterred by it. His love for people compels Him to Calvary.
Somewhere near the Jordan River, Jesus enters a village. The Pharisees meet Him, and try to discredit Him by asking Him difficult questions about moral issues. They didn't know they were talking to God, and were matching wits with their Creator.
Afterwards, couples began bringing their children to Jesus. What a wonderful sentiment! They wanted Jesus to touch their children, and to bless them! They wanted their children to know Jesus.
The single most wonderful gift a parent could give to their children is an introduction to Jesus. Bring your children to Jesus!
The disciples rebuked these couples, thinking that Jesus was tired, or too busy, to be bothered with kids. To their surprise, Jesus rebuked them, His disciples!
"But when Jesus saw it, he was much displeased, and said unto them, Suffer the little children to come unto me, and forbid them not: for of such is the kingdom of God." (v. 14)
Let those chaps come to Jesus!
Sometimes, parents think that their children are too young to understand things, and may become confused by making a decision for salvation at too young of an age.
Parenting is the hardest job on earth, and often, it is difficult to know what to do.
But, our wonderful Savior instructs us about letting children come unto Him. We should not forbid them the opportunity to know the Lord in the forgiveness of sin.
Jesus loves little children! "...he took them up in his arms, put his hands upon them, and blessed them." (v. 16)
Tell those little ones about the One who loves them, and gave His life for them. Bring them to Jesus!
Remember, there is a viscous predator roaming to and fro in the earth, seeking whom he may devour! And the only way to make your children safe from him is by bringing them to Jesus.
Place them in the arms of Jesus. He will guide them, and watch over them. Jesus will take care of them.
From my heart to your heart.
