"Then said he unto Zebah and Zalmunna, What manner of men were they whom ye slew at Tabor? And they answered, As thou art, so were they; each one resembled the children of a king." (Judges 8:18)
The Midianites have invaded the land of Israel. They are a mean people, full of hate for their fellow man. The Midianites were made their living by murdering and robbery.
They were a vile people. They refused to work for their living, and lived a life of partying and debauchery.
The Bible says that the Midianites raided the land of Israel, taking away all of their food, leaving them to starve.
God used Gideon to defeat the Midianites! He and three hundred men chased the Midianites out of Israel, and caught them at Nobah and Jogbehah. He captured their kings, Zebah and Zalmunna.
Before he executed the Midianite kings, he questioned them about a raid that they had made at the Israelite city of Tabor. He asked them, "...What manner of men were they whom ye slew at Tabor?..."
Zebah and Zalmunna answered Gideon, "...As thou art, so were they; each one resembled the children of a king."
Isn't that remarkable? These two heathens killed some of God's children at Tabor, but remembered them as being different. They looked like the children of a king.
Dear child of God, never forget that you are a child of the King! You will stand out as such in public places. It is the Spirit of God dwelling inside of you that makes you different from the Midianites of this world.
So live well, this day, and live as a child of the King! Even those who try to hurt you will notice that something about you is different from them.
From my heart to your heart.
