"Thinkest thou that I cannot now pray to my Father, and he shall presently give me more than twelve legions of angels?" (Matthew 26:53)
The foolishness of mankind is immeasurable.
Judas Iscariot betrayed Jesus into the hands of sinful, envious, petty men for thirty pieces of silver. (The price of a common slave.)
Then, a mob carrying swords and clubs goes to arrest Him! What fools! How do you arrest a man who calmed a violent storm? How are you going to jail someone who walks on water? Why would you imprison a man that gives sight to the blind, causes the deaf to hear, and removes a leper's spots? Why would you even bother someone who raises the dead back to life?
The scripture says that "...a great multitude..." followed Judas to Gethsemane to arrest Jesus. (v. 47) I don't know how many a great multitude was, but it wasn't enough, if Jesus didn't want to go with them!
Jesus responded to their show of force by saying, "Thinkest thou that I cannot pray to my Father, and he shall presently give me more than twelve legions of angels?" (Matthew 26:53) A Roman legion was made up of about 6,000 soldiers! twelve times that is 72,000! Please note, that Jesus said it would be more than twelve legions!
No sir! They did not take Jesus. He went with them willingly. His only reason for going with them was to become the Savior of men!
That man from Galilee! You need to be His friend.
From my heart to your heart.
