"For he hath regarded the low estate of his handmaiden: for, behold, from henceforth all generations shall call me blessed." (Luke 1:48)
A. M. NOTES are all about the Christmas story.
"GOD IS CONSIDERATE OF OTHERS"
Mary, the mother of our Lord, continues her "Magnificat". Magnificat is a Latin word, meaning [My soul} magnifies [the Lord].
In this verse, she praises Him for His warmest 'regards'. "For he hath regarded the low estate of his handmaiden:..."
To 'regard' is to 'consider or think of someone or something in a specified way'. Mary knew that God was thinking about her.
We often serendipitously meet with someone that we hadn't seen in a while, and will say, "I have been thinking about you". It is a nice feeling to know that someone has been thinking about you. And the more prominent the person is, the more special you will feel.
Well, now, God has been thinking about you. No one is more prominent than God!
Mary praised Him for His warm regards, and was uplifted by the thoughts of God's heart for her. After all, who was she, that God would have consideration for her?
1) She was a child.
2) She was from a small town.
3) She was a sinner.
4) She was part of a culture that 'dis-regarded' females!
And, yet, God regarded her!
If you are feeling a little lonely, or neglected, their is One who regards you every day. God loves you despite your imperfections, and longs to have fellowship with you.
Why not send YOUR regards God's way, this day?
From my heart to your heart.
