"And after six days Jesus taketh with him Peter, and James, and John, and leadeth them up into an high mountain apart by themselves: and he was transfigured before them.
And his raiment became shining, exceeding white as snow; so as no fuller on earth can white them." (Mark 9:2-3)
Jesus' earthly ministry is coming to an end. The shadow of the cross looms ominously across His path. He doesn't have much time left with His disciples.
So He takes Peter, James and John apart, into a high mountain. There, He is transfigured! Suddenly, He is changed, and looks as He did when He lived in Heaven!
He looked clean! His clothes were bright, and whiter than just white! They were cleaner than any detergent could clean them. Brighter than any laundromat could make them!
How dirty is this world that we live in?!
1) Diseases!
2) Viruses!
3) Germs!
4) Bacteria!
5) Mold!
6) Mildew!
7) Rot, and Rust!
Oh, how clean the Lord appeared on the top of that mountain!
How moral, and sinless!
Down here, we live in filth!
1) Perversion!
2) Pornography!
3) Murder!
4) Abuse!
5) Greed!
6) Garbage on the roadside!
7) Stupidity! (Yep! I said it. If you don't know which bathroom you're supposed to use, well, you are unteachable, and are wrong about a lot of other things, too!)
Peter, James, and John got a glimpse of what life in heaven will be. I am so glad that God put this passage in the Bible for us to read.
1) We see Jesus in His glory.
2) We see those who were dead, alive again. (Elijah and Moses talking with Jesus.)
3) We see how pure and clean we will be.
This world could be a lot better than it is, but it will never be like heaven.
I hope that you don't get too comfortable, here. The best is yet to come.
Run into the arms of Jesus!
From my heart to your heart.
