"And he could there do no mighty work, save that he laid his hands upon a few sick folk, and healed them.
And he marvelled because of their unbelief." (Mark 6:5-6)
Our Savior was born in Bethlehem, but He was reared in Nazareth. It was His hometown.
Hometowns are a very important part of our histories. You never forget the people that were there, and always romanticize nostalgic memories of those days.
In this A. M. reading assignment, I read about Jesus' return to His hometown of Nazareth. It was disappointing. They did not believe in Him. Consequently, he didn't do many miracles there.
Faith! God works among people of faith!
How sad for Nazareth. He could have righted many wrongs in the lives of the people there, but did not! Why? "...he could do there no mighty work,...And he marvelled because of their unbelief,..." (Mark 6:5,6)
The Lord can do anything! But He won't do anything, when people don't believe in Him!
1) Jesus won't save a person that does not believe in Him. (You must believe before you can receive.)
2) Read the Bible carefully, and you will realize that Jesus only healed those that believed in Him.
3) Also, you will see in the Bible, that Jesus changed the lives of those who believed in Him.
Capernaum was a city on the coast of the Sea of Galilee. Jesus was always warmly welcomed when He visited that city. They believed in Him, there. And He did more miracles in that city than he did anywhere else! Why? Because they believed in Him in that city.
Put your faith in Jesus! He lives in the heart of those who believe in Him. And he works in the lives of the faithful.
From my heart to your heart.
